Does anyone know how easily this can be grown from seed? I collected some seeds still left on the plumes after winter (my neighbor was doing her spring pruning/cutback).
Any specific tips for starting it?
Thanks! I just needed more stuff to start you know:-) -Christie
Northern Pampas Grass
yikes, that stuff is invasive around here, planting it would be greatly frowned upon...is that the situation in other locations as well??
I imagine it is invasive in other areas because just about everything we plant is a pain somewhere else! It is kind of amusing, though, when you think about someone's weed being someone else's specimen :-)
There aren't a whole lot of of large ornamental grasses that grow very well here - I personally have only had luck with ribbon grass (but it doesn't get very big) I've had zebra grass and a couple of others and killed them pretty quick!
Ornamental grasses are getting more popular here, though, I do see them in the larger garden centers every now and then. My neighbor has had hers for about 3 years, its beautiful and very tall, but she's never had any "babies" sprout up.
I started them like I do my fescues, we'll see
