Ok I want to plant blueberries, I have the perfect spot for them, problem is, there is literally 1" of top soil and the rest is hard thick clay. So I will have to dig out a hole and replace the clay with store bought potting soil (for acid loving plants). Here is the big question, taking into consideration how much space their roots will take up at full maturity, how big a hole do I need to dig to insure good healthy plants (length X width X depth) ?
Blueberries - preparing the ground in clay soil
4 x 4 x 2 feet and be sure to mulch with about 6 inches of pine straw.
