First and Last 'Frost Dates' by locale

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi, everybody---

For those of us new to seed starting and trying to calculate appropriate seed starting times, 'Victoria Seed Company', specialists in heirloom and organic seeds, provides a great resource: This link provides average Last Frost Dates by locality throughout the US and Canada http://www.victoryseeds.com/frost/index.html .

This site also has good information on planting times, germination, invasive plants by state, and links to your state extensions along with lots of other essential links. Very useful although I can't say that I have tried Victory's seeds.

Many have referenced Tom Clothier's website, 'Garden Walk' http://tomclothier.hort.net/ , famous for lots of detail on germination also.

I am trying to start seeds indoors--eggplant, bells of Ireland, zinnia, among others, and Tom Clothier recommends keeping a very detailed notebook of starting times, germination, etc., which is fine, I suppose, but I was stumped from the 'gitgo' because I couldn't find out our Last Frost Date until a search for Victory Seeds brought it up.

Of course, I'm not starting that many seeds so I should probably be able to keep the info in my head! Famous last words! lol

So, thought I would share this Last Frost link for all who are anxious for spring (like me)--April 29 seems a long way away, though!

p.s. Just found this UK site: The Seed Site http://theseedsite.co.uk/seedsowing.html full of good info, plus a good explanation of the Deno Method (starting seeds with Baggies) that so many DGers use...

Happy gardening. t.

Great resources! Thanks. May 20th is almost a month longer than April 29th :-( Oh well, I've already started some things and if they don't make it till then, I'll just start more in a few weeks when I'm supposed to start them!

These links are great! The only bad part is that my last frost date is not until May 20th, too.
Thanks!

Only two weeks? jeez, you're lucky! Have you started any seeds?

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Only brug seeds...
I did pull everything out of the greenhouse about 2 weeks ago and keep watching the weather. Looks like Tues night it may get down to 37, and of course i'm wondering if i want to just leave them out or test mother nature.
