Hello :)
I'd love to search for plants that other people have been successful with in my area, but how do I do that? CAN I do that? If not, that would be a cool new feature!
Thanks,
Kelly
How do I search for what is reported to grow well near me?
There may be an easier way to do this (and we may need to make it much easier to do now that more ZIP codes have been added), but in the meantime, if you have added your ZIP code to any plant, you can click on your city/state when it appears in the regional report area (beneath the details) and it will pull up a list of plants that grow well within 50 miles. Once you pull up that list, you can change the radius to however many miles you want it to search.
If you haven't added your ZIP code to any plants, you should *grin* And you can copy this link into your browser window and add your five-digit ZIP code immediately following the "=" character:
http: //davesgarden.com/pf/zipbyzip.php?zip=
For the link to work, you'll need to remove the blank space that follows "http:", as well. :)
Our member pages used to show the number of zip code reports we had made. Will that feature be returning?
Donna
Whooops - thanks for reminding me I had put a space in there so the URL would be displayed, rather than converting to a non-working hyperlink.
As to the ZIP code reports...well, they *should* come back sooner than later. That's a Dave question - I'll be sure he sees this thread.
Thank you, Terry. I kinda forgot which Forum I was in. :)
Zipcode report is back!
Wow! Thanks, Dave. :)
And Dave has added a link to "Search by ZIP code" to the Browse and Search Tools: http://davesgarden.com/pf/tools/
So cool!
Thank you everyone. :)
Kelly
How neat is that!
Thanks Dave and all contributers!
Help! This is making my head hurt. Can some one please give me a "How to Search for Plants in a Certain Location for Dummies" lesson. I would like to search for plants around Las Cruces New Mexico and other places too once I learn how to do it. I can't find ' Search by Zip Code" and what is *grin*? Thanks muchly.
If you go up 3 posts above yours, Terry posted a link to the page that has the link for the zip code search. Of course you'll need to find out the zip code, but if you go to an online yellow pages or something like that and look up something in Las Cruces chances are you can get the zip code that way.
Thanks so much ecrane3.
