I hate to assume

You know what that can do! LOL! But.... I've jumped on the winter sowing bandwagon and I've been searching to find any and all seeds that can be sown this method. I went outside (snow and all) and harvested some dried pods from my Rose of Sharon bush. I put them in soil/pop bottle container and outside they went. My question is, will they germinate? Has anyone had success growing these from seed this way. Thanx in advance for you answer(s).

They pop up like crazy around my bushes...no reason to think that they won't do the same.

Just a bit of info though...if you have a fabcy double, or a named cultivar....the seedlings probably won't bloom the same as the parent. They'll revert back to the original species...still pretty and nice and hardy.

As a rule of thumb, most perennials that are hardy in your zone can be wintersown.

Thanx Melody and KLD, no special cultivar, just your run-of-the-mill neighborhood bush/tree. I get volunteers too. Wasn't sure if they were runners or seedlings.
