Potted Lilies?

Simpsonville, SC(Zone 7b)

I ran into a bulb sale on mixed asiatic lilies, tulips, iris, crocus, ect. and bought a bunch of them. I plan to put them into pots and try to sell them at my roadside market next spring. My question is, what size pots to use and how many to put in each pot?

Thanks for any help you can give.

i have bought 3 orientals/asiatics in a 1 gallon size container. i have also done 1 in a deep 6 inch pot. the most important thing is to make sure the pots are deep and the soil well draining. i used potting soil with sandbox sand from home depot this spring. i made the mistake of putting 3 orienpets into a 2 gallon pot. the pot was fine, the lilies grew beautifully, but i had potted them up to bring them indoors to enjoy without cutting them. well the smell was heavenly but far toooooooo much. so they had to go back outside again.. next spring they get planted 1 per pot. :-)
hope this helps and good luck next spring.

I just got some asiatics also.

Can I pot them up and leave them outside for the winter ?

I overwinter potted hostas outdoors under piles of leaves and other mulches. Would this work for lilies ?

I have room in the dark basement but I think its' too warm for a good winters sleep.

I really do not want to lose these, they are my newest obsession..

TIA

scooterbug,
asiatics out of all of the bulbs are the hardiest. i don't know about keeping them outside under mulch and such, but i've kept mine in the garage in pots and also snuggled into peat moss and they have done well.
