When is the next lily co-op????

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

Thanks,Jody

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Whenever you would like to host it? LOL Don't believe I've ever seen a set schedule for any co-ops but I think Brenda (langbr) did mention possibly hosting another one in the spring. :)

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

Just did a big bulb swap.I'm taking a rest.LOL.I want in on the next one.Jody

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

I was very pleased with the bulbs from Brenda's spring coop but had to pass on the fall one - no money, tends to be a real downer. :) Definitely will be a-buying if she has a spring one.

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

Gotta find Brenda!!!! LOL. Jody

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Here I am. Still thinking I'll do one in the Spring, but working on a Dahlia one right now -- hoping to start it within the week. And like a nut, I'm scheming a gladiolus coop right after the dahlia one. Haven't yet started searching for a source for those yet.

Palmyra, IL(Zone 5b)

I can hardly wait.LOL.Jody

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Brenda,
I can't believe you want to do another co-op so soon!! You did a fabulous job on this last one. A dalia co-op sounds verrrrry interesting. I just have to learn to buy less of each instead of enough from one co-op to fill my beds!

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

brenda thats stuff i have to dig up in the fall-i have given that up yrs ago! I will wait for the lilys

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Dori -- I just treat them like annuals normally. Although this year I did dig a few to see if I'm successful saving them. Normally I just buy them every year at Costco.

Brenda, when I did a glad coop 2 years ago, I got corms from http://www.dggrowglad.com You might inquire. I have no idea how they are doing now. They had 22 colors that year.

I was pretty satisfied with the 2500 or so corms from them, but I was close enough to pick them up so we only had shipping out to participants.

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Aw, I couldn't open that link, Darius.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Duh, I didn't check it, just copied it from old paperwork. I'll do some checking and see if they are still around.

Winnipeg, MB(Zone 2b)

No more lily coops allowed until we get a whole lot of Cdns to share the phyto - and to see if Judith will send an order up here in the spring.

AMEN Green with jealousy anon cdn sniff grinding of teeth

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Ginny,
what are Cdns and phyto?

Bay City, MI(Zone 6a)

well maybe if they were cheap enough-but i have a hard time not diggin them up if i know i can save them over winter. we shall see.......! :)

How about these six footers?

Brenda, I'm definately in for a Dahlia co-op! The kids destroyed all but one and I rescued it by moving it to a different spot. The next year I accidently covered it up with weed blocker. :-( I'll keep an eye out for the co-op!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

trunnels - Canadians and phytocertificate. Love the six footers!!!!!!!!

Plano, TX(Zone 8a)

Thank, Kooger. Somtimes I can be very dense! LOL

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

I saw the most beautiful dahlia's in Oregon and Idaho when we were tripping this fall.
Don't know if it is the weather, soil or what??

For those of you really going through a "buying lily withdrawal" Van Dyck's has most of theirs 1/2 off. http://www.vandycks.com/fall/directory.phtml just click on the category and it will take you to the offerings. Van Bourgondien has a similar 1/2 off at http://www.dutchbulbs.com/fall/directory.html but I think the prices are better at Van Dycks.
Both have an iffy GardenWatchdog rating, but my VanDyck order came through pretty well for late bulbs - I ordered about 2 dozen bulbs and only one was bad.

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

George - I don't hesitate ordering bulbs from Van Dycks, Van Bourgondien, Dutch Bulbs, and the like. Usually they are ok for bulbs, but I do not buy their plants (bareroot or otherwise). Just had bad luck with them.

Darius - please let me know if you can determine if they are still in business.

Maxine - I think the Oregon and Washington state growers have some fabulous growing conditions for lilies, dahlias, azalea, rhodies, etc. They have some really rich soil I think and great weather.

Brenda, I could not find a trace of them online. I know they were struggling to hold onto the family farm, harder now that agri-business has entered their area.

Western, WI(Zone 4a)

The half price bulbs are OK, if you are in a temperate zone like 9 or above.

Not for me at zone 4a, as the bulbs will not be rooted properly before our winter sets in.

Thanks Kooger. Sometimes I forget to visit DG for a few days.

Went to a snowy dawn memorial service for the Montreal Massacre women today. Can't believe it was 15 years ago. We (the world) reqlly are making a mess of so many things, aren't we.
Ginny - spending the day thinking
