I want to gather seeds from my vinca flowers that I have in pots all over the deck. How do you do this? What/where are the seeds? I'm making myself crazy over this obession to save money next spring (so I don't have to BUY the plants)!
Vinca flowerseed collecting...how?
ACYC - Here's an excellent resource for seed saving. . lots of good info if you're just getting started. Happy collecting!

Many thanks jcangemi! I'm looking now!
AYC - The seeds are in those little green pods on the vincas. I clip mine off the plants when they just start turning yellow starting to go to brown and then place the pods in a pan in the sun and allow them to completely dry - the pods will open and VOILA - you have tons of little bitty seeds!
Good luck!

Thank you, Onalee. The Seed Site has lots of wonderful information, but it doesn't have anything on this plant yet.
I hope they add some more to that seed site (there are alot that aren't listed). . .or better yet, there's some buzz in the air about some help with that on the DG sites. Many of the plants in the PDB have seed pics in them already and more are being listed all the time, e.g. some very good pics of a cultivar of echinacea

I'm trying to remember to check there as well when I'm collecting something new. Here's another site that I use also, but you need to know the family of the plant your looking for:

Yahoo everybody! I found the seed pods! I can't believe I get so excited over something this silly, but alas, I do! Just think of the money I'll save (and perhaps others will too) next spring! Too cool! Thank s to you all.
ACYC - hey, make sure when you plant them that you just distribute over the top of the ground - DO NOT COVER WITH SOIL or they will not come up. They have to have light to germinate, I learned this the hard way . . .
Good Luck!

Great! Let us know how you do next spring...Janet
Anyone have a picture of these seed pods? I really want to collect seed from my vinca.
They reseeded nicely for enjoyment this season, but need more for fillers elsewhere.
Help! LOL
