Think of me as strange but I had an idea I thought I would use to store some seeds. I have large silica gel (rechargeable via oven) that I sometimes use to store camera equipment with to keep out moisture. I thought that the same setup with a airtight container in the basement(40 - 50 deg. in winter) would be a good thought.
Any comments/advice?

storing seeds
I have read that you can put them in plastic bag in freezer
I store my seeds in lidded quart canning jars in small plastic bags or in the original packets if they were purchased. For good measure I throw in all the little silica packets I have collected from purchased shoes, etc. for the year.
