Worked out in the Garden and noticed a Pod which looked like it was ready to harvest the seeds from.
It is a cross of
You Devil x Rose Talisman
They were 9 seeds inside ,all of them pitchblack, some of them hard, some of them soft.
What does that mean ? were the soft ones not ready yet ?
Could anyone please let me know.Maybe I am too anxious and I openend the pod too soon.
Thanks,
Brigitte
DL SEEDS - soft inside
Run across a pod which had openedn BUt again some of them were hard and some soft .....who knows why that is ?
searched already on my own but can't seem to find the reason.
Thanks ,
Brigitte
Well, usually you should let them stay on the plant till they are light brown to dark brown. They open up somewhat by then.
I've seen pods so dry hanging onto the stalk, they look like they were eaten out.
Some were hollow, others not
Here's a picture of what they should look like: while waiting to be harvested.
Hi NatureWalker,
Yes that's how my pods look like from the Lemonlilies I harvested a few weeks ago.
But this Pod had cracked open a little, turned brown somewhat .somebody had broken it off and I of course wanted to save the seeds.
Still do NOT know why some of them are soft ,even kind of waterlogged ?
Brigitte
hi Eglantyne,
Morning dew or moisture from rain can do that also, You'll just have to leave them on some coffee filters to let them get dried out more. Or use the egg carton method I wrote about in this forum:
Use of empty cardboard egg cartons: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/457611/
