I'm growing pumpkins for the first time this year. The variety I'm growing, Sorcerer, is supposed to have "high yields", yet I only have one or two fruits per vine (two vines). What is considered an "average" yield from one vine?
I planted the vines in different parts of the yard--should I have planted them next to each other for cross pollination?
Thanks!
Rhonda
Pumpkin Yield?
I have not grown the Sorcerer, but it is a relatively large pumpkin. Many of the larger pumpkins will set a couple of fruits early and then set several more as the older one get to full growth. Usually an individula brach of the vine will only support one or two pumpkins. For a large pumpkin 4 to six pumpkins per plant would be a good yield.
Thank you, Farmerdill. Good to know what to expect. They're a lot of fun to grow, and I'll be happy with any amount I get.
Rhonda
