Red bug on Mexican petunias and hibiscus

Port Lavaca, TX(Zone 9a)

What is this, there are other smaller ones that are similar but don't have the markings on the back. The bug is more red than the photo shows. Is it good or bad. If it's bad what do I do to get rid of it?

Thanks so much Poppysue, I was feeling pretty frantic. I was watering in preparation for leaving for a week and saw them. Was tempted to grab the insecticide and start spraying. So now I can relax and enjoy my trip.

I've heard that this is the only bug that will eat the dreaded "love bug"...they are welcome in my garden anytime : )
