Black and Yellow Beetle with a zig-zag pattern

Spokane Valley, WA(Zone 5b)

Found two of these in the corn this afternoon. They are about 5/8" long with 6 legs, the body has slender black and yellow stripes, and the wings when folded have a zig-zag pattern which resembles 10 "W"s sitting on top of one another, alternating from black to yellow.

Is this a good guy or a bad guy? He's quite striking, in any case, and I would provide a photo if I could. :)

Thanks!
Donna

P.S. Thanks for moving this, Terry! :)

Exactly! A locust borer who only cares about certain kinds of locust trees. Found an interesting article about it, as it "once grew only along the Allegheny Mountains from Pennsylvania to Georgia and in the Ozark Mountain region". I've attached the article and its associated pic:

Thanks, poppysue! :)

Oops! It holds my copyright info 'cause I forgot to turn that off when I uploaded the pic. It is *NOT* mine!!! *blush*
