My Sorbonne opened today...the flowers are HUGE...9" across...and there's 9 buds to open yet!! They'll surely be bumping into each other....
Opened today...
Love that color! Is that a hint of violet near the tips, or just the white edges? Very pretty.
Gorgeous!
Gorgeous both ways!
Oh My Goodness! Remind me to add this one to my list...
this one has been on my list for a couple of years now. gotta get it gotta get it. :) tyke, great photo's and a beautiful lily.
sigh...whimper....twitch....
:)
Beautiful flower....it's things like this that give me a delightfully short attention span and a case of...."gotta-have-it-itis"
You know - flowers are a delightful way to be cavalier, disloyal, obsessive and polyamorous... so many loves!
That is so true! I've never been so...all of the above!! Most of all, I have given over to 'Lily Lust'.
well moby, you will have to make a lily theme garden.
sandra, nice to see you girlfriend! how is ireland treating you? any lilies there to lust over? you can grow them in pots you know. look at the picture of my tom pounce, grown in a pot and gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very beautiful color.
sbarr--It's so good to "hear" you again. So, what can you plant in Ireland besides shamrocks?
Hi Wanda - sorry for the delay - been in the US visiting family. Fairly limited in what I am growing now - brought a few things from home - I have two absolutely demolished hostas - eaten down to the soil - but, still have a strong root system (hoping I can revive them), a couple of brugs (very sad looking) and a daylily -- all in pots since I am renting.
Outside, the soil in my little yard is terrible. Started a compost bin with the hopes that I'll be able to amend the soil later. There's a great fuchsia (something that would not survive a NY winter), rosemary, two rose bushes and a few other plants - not a lot.
Back home at the house in NY - I hear weekly updates on what is growing - makes me envious, especially since I was the one who planted everything and Doug is the one who gets to enjoy it.
Sorbonne is lovely! Good thing lily bulbs don't take up a lot of room. I still have an order of them coming and will have to find places to tuck them into.
Susan
i like those tyke. are they late bloomers for you, or did you just plant them this year?
Hi Debi....they are late bloomers, Orientals...they were in full bloom from Aug. 5th or so till Aug. 14 when the wedding was...but probably would have bloomed later if we had not picked them.
thanks tyke,
i hope all went well at the wedding and that the tears flowed and the laughter rang out.
what a beautiful bride & groom. they both have that twinkle in there eyes. pretty bouquet too.
tyke--looks like more than beautiful flowers grow in your garden. Congrats to the newly weds!
Thanks Wanda abd debi...I totally agree!
Ha ha....as you can see my fingers were on the wrong keys when I tried to type 'and'....sorry...
So, wedding now and new little "grand-seedlings" to come???
Hopefully some day....but probably not anytime too soon....she just graduated this spring and has her first teaching job....teaching 1st. grade....it's been 2 weeks and she's having a great time....they both love kids so maybe it won't be too long...I do have a new grandbaby....from our other son and daughter in law...Olivia...she's 3 months old now....she's my favorite little flower now...
What a dolly!
she is definitely a precious lily.
Now that's the best sprout I've seen all summer!!
What a sweetie! Nothing like gardening to make us all nuturing people. I tell my daughters that I don't want to be a Grandma for at least 5 years (cross my fingers)--they're 20 and almost 18 and both in school yet....
