Dee,
I wonder why yours are not opening all the way? Mine do, but they are much smaller then I thought they would be. And not as much streaking either, but still a pretty flower.

2 of mine were doing the yucky opening until I kept spraying them down with soap spray....

Happy Birthday Dee! Is Pam gonna cook you dinner? hehehe
Or better yet, take you out?

Mesilla Park, NM

Happy B-Day, WW....

Had posted this on another post and could not find it..

Have buds on Mt. Fuji and Joyce Cobb as of today just forming.. also have collected seeds on Kniolas that reseeded, and Orange Noah and Milky Way are blooming their heads off.. only the JMGs are still showing no buds yet..

Also planted 11 more varieties on June 19th (seeds from Brugie), and they are all up except one. It may be late in the season but they sure germinated fast and are about six inches tall. So far the heat here has been in the 100's thru 112 this week. Also planted some morning glory bush seeds this past week (hairy little things) and they all germinated.

I am getting impatient and want to see some blooms, the passies are really doing well in this heat though.. keep your pictures coming, they are gorgeous and thanks to all of you for sharing them. Antoinette

Thanks sooo much all.........I posted this on my birthday threas but I guess I will tell you what happened today.
I was planning a better day Butttttt. About 9 this moring I get a call from the Hosital, it's my hubby telling me he had a slight accident and would have to have surgery on his hand.

Well I went up to see what was going on and sure enough he had smashed his finger and in doing so drove the bone through the skin and had metal shards in the bone..OUCH!!!!....
So they did what they could for him there and then transferred him to another hospital about 50 miles away to a hand specialist for emergency surgery.......
Anyway it was cleaned, scraped, set and and sewn up and they released him to go home.
We stopped at the pharmacy for meds, pain and antiboitcs and came home.
We just got here and I am pooped......wow what a day. He's now in the living room moaning and groning about the pain hes in and he can't get comfortable........well hummmmm...you would think he would have known it was gonna hurt......right.....LOL....hes such a wimp.....LOL

Thanks for all the birthday wishes they mean alot to me.....
Thanks again........

:o)
Dee

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

Oh Dee,
I am so sorry to hear that! I hope the pain lets up for him soon, and when it does remind him that he owes you a Birthday! LOL

Gourd,
so glad that your getting blooms!

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

my mg's have done the same here after a hard rain, have you had any rain there lately that could have caused this?

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh man you bet we have had rain. Almost nothing but rain. One day last week we had about 3 inches in a little less than an hour. We have had alot of rain over the past month. This week has been a little better so I will wait and see how they do then.......:o)
Dee

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

well I would be fairly certain it is in fact due to the heavy rain you experienced!! Mine only do this when we get a downpour, the ends of a new bud ready to open will just start to curl inward and never get to open after this kind of rain. Hope the rain clears up for you!! Remember, you should still get seeds, as they self pollinate and even if they never truly opened, seeds will no doubt still form inside :)

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

This is 7 days after using the alfalfa cubes the first time. The plant itself is only about 6 inches tall and I was amazed to see this bloom!!! Now if I knew what it was life would be even better!!! I am pretty sure its not a blue clitorea which is what I had it labled!!!!! (haha)
Anyone know????? I sure do like it!

Alice, as we spoke this morning, I know you now know that is not clitoria, but a morning glory, perhaps someone out there would know it's name for you. I think its a beauty, but don't know name of it. AP seem to really be doing a wonderous job!!

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Mt. Fuji.....

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

I forgot to add what a vivid blue that is Alice!

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, my yellow one has finally bloomed...

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Man I like those, Moon. Hummm, what is that unknown? Look through all your seed packets and see if you can't find it.....Dog gone it and you don't even have squirrels at your place.....LOL....

But all joking aside that looks like one of the Sunrise Mix. I have one that blooms like that and it's a Sunrise Mix. It will only do one or two blooms and stop. I have yet to get a picture of it as it is usually raining. You should remember it Moon you saw it and commented on how much you wanted seeds of it when I got some. It opened and bloomed pretty early, among my first bloomers.

I had the seed pods tagged and the squirrels ate the little tags and wires so they are lost again. They were planted along with the Monster Chocolate Silks I have..... :o)
Dee

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

You need some paint stirring sticks to write on, they won't eat those.

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes, it's from the mix...

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

The vinyl shades that I cut up and use would probably be tough for the little mongrels to chew on!!!

Stockton, CA(Zone 9a)

I am oooooh'ing & aaaaah'ing girls!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Aknapp, I use the vinyl shade blinds to label and what happens is they will chew the little wire I have them tied with and then take the vinyl part with the name to who knows where. I have found a few but most of the time some distance away. So I think they are using them in there nest or just chew them up. These things are like rats in trees so they can chew through most anything......
But thanks for the suggestion, I may try and find some of the aluminum shades and cut them up, but what to use to tie them on with?
They, meaning the squirrels, have even taken the tags off of my brugs, thank goodness I knew what most of them were......LOL....always some excitement....
:o)
Dee

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Some time ago someone had posted a way to make tags from soft drink cans. Cut the top and bottom off and cut the center into strips, fold double allowing 1/4 inch to fold over the sharp edges. Make a hole in one end. Cut 8 inch lengths of wire from a metal close hanger, loop one end through the hole and the other end can be pushed into the ground. These can be written on by applying pressure with a ballpoint pen or anything with a point. It will never fade or wear off. Just a thought!

Citrus Heights, CA(Zone 9b)

Well things have started jumpin out the ground. This is the floating cypress vine the one I put on the 45 degree netting. It's a climbin. It will make a carpet on a slant. That way it will kinda float.

Here is Blue Silk. I would love to have a trellis full of them and wish they would last longer. I Should have said that I wish they would climb the trellis. LOL!

Thumbnail by Brugie
San Antonio, TX(Zone 9a)

Well, Shirley, at least you got yours to bloom. None of mine even germinated. This is has been a terrible year for mg's for me.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

Brugie, so it doesn't climb? That might explain why I have one that doesn't seem to want to twine!

Jones Creek, TX(Zone 9a)

Shirley that blue silk is sooo pretty. It is pretty close to Keiryu, except the Keiryu is a little darker but it does climb. I will save you and Sylvia some seeds if nothing happens and I am able to get some. They are just beginning to set seed so the chances are pretty good at this point.... :o)
Dee

Cassopolis, MI(Zone 5a)

Brugie its as gorgeous as I thought it would be!!!! Thats one of the ones I kicked myself several times for loosing this spring!!!!!
I hope it produces lots of flowers and seeds for you!!!!!

Mesilla Park, NM

Brugie, that is beautiful.. mine are making me wait, and wait, and wait.. the nice thing is that the plants might get to a good size (hopefully).

Needville, TX(Zone 9a)

It's beautiful Shirley.....

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Thanks everyone. I hope it produces seed, but it is also close to other glories so there could be some cross pollination. Thanks Dee. I'll be trying to collect some from here too.

OC, CA & Twin Lakes , IA(Zone 4b)

Hey, Brugie! I sure am planning on seeds from you. I am so glad I sent them to you as I knew you would have a better chance of growing them than me!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene, I got them from three different people. I have no idea which ones I grew, but I'm sure glad this one was what I was looking for. I'll try to save seeds, but it better get in gear and do some more blooming.

Found the tags: My Blue Silk above was from Laurrie, I believe. Arlene, I found yours and Sylvia's on the east side of the garden on a trellis together because I ran out of trellises. They haven't bloomed yet. One pkt. of seeds said blue and pink silk and so far, only pink on that trellis.
