Termites

I don't want to use chemicals to eradicate termites!! We use well water. Do I have an option? Our house is brand new but I don't suppose that makes any difference, unless someone tells me different!! This is very important to me so your input would be much appreciated.

Termites in a new house? Or are you new to the house? The standard approach for widespead infestation is full-house tenting and gassing. If the problems is subterranean termites, spot treatment of infected wood and clearing soil away from house timbers is the common approach.

There are new technologies using nitrogen or heat or cold or even electrical voltage. Check you local pest companies but first you might want to go online and check out the publications from Bio-Integral Resource Center (BIRC) at www.birc.org; also check www.ipmnow.org.
