We have two old apple trees in our back yard that were part of an orchard before our house was built 8 years ago. The trees were badly damaged by tractors, etc. but survived. When I went outside today to water the trees I noticed some fluffy down-like stuff sticking out of some of crevices in the trees. It's mainly around areas where limbs were ripped off, and in a few places where limbs were cut. Is this a fungus? And can I save the trees?

Goosedown on my apple trees?
Wow...never heard of that before, Claire.
I'll ask around about it.
