Is it possible to prompgate a river birch. We have to trim the tree so we can cover it before the cidadias come and I was wondering if I could start new trees from these cuttings>
Thanks!!!!

Hi, have you any willow trees around you? If so, I have started many trees from snipping some willow branches, putting in a 5 gal bucket of water, the willow seems to have hormones in it that really helps to root anything you stick in the bucket. Give it a try and see if it works.
Willow is a good organic aid to propagating lots of things it really works . Ernie
University of Georgia gives a good deal of info here that seems to say yes. http://www.ces.uga.edu/pubcd/b1082-w.html
You cover the whole tree? How big is it? And how do you cover it?
