Tetraploid Mulberry Seed/Tree

Owensboro, KY(Zone 6a)

Does anyone know where I could get a tetraploid mulberry tree/seed!? Any variety will do. I have an experiment I want to get started.

I don't know about the tetraploid part, but my husband roots mulberry cuttings from our tree.

Thank you so much for your offer. I am trying to make a certain cross and I was needing a tetraploid mulberry or tetraploid seed. I was hoping someone had already converted some of the mulberries so I wouldn't have to wait another year for seed.

Please explain what a tetraploid mulberry is.

Tetraploid means that the plants chromosomes have been doubled. Usually the fruit is larger, the leaves are larger, and sometimes they are darker green. Most commercial fruits are tetraploid. I am wanting a tetraploid mulberry because I am going to try and make a wide cross with another plant.

That sounds fascinating - keep us posted please
