how do i start them from seed
amaryllis
I just planted mine in soil. Nothing special, and they grew.
Ya know JCF, I was wondering the same thing. I got some red/white seeds.. I since learned they arent that easy! LOL They take awhile to sprout, and then dont flower for about 3 years. I never did find out how to propagate them. So I am just trying to do it in a small 2 inch container, and in a zip lock bag. Of course the soil is moist. No signs of growth yet. I planted them 10/27. Dont think that helped at all, but... lol thats what I came up with. Good luck!
I use one of those square plastic salad boxes with the lid. I add damp seed starter mix, fresh seeds, just sprinkle a tiny amount of starter mix over the seeds & mist with water. I now have many that should bloom this coming spring. I have read that bulbs from seeds are not true to parent plant, hope to find out this spring.
