hydrangea tree seeds?

Bellaire, MI(Zone 5a)

I have what looks like either the seed or pod with seed inside but not sure, can anyone help me with?

North Tonawanda, NY(Zone 3a)

My son has a paniculata grandiflora, or peegee type. His doesn't set any seed pods. To collect seed on this, you have to shake the blooms inside a large plastic bag, and the seed looks like a fine orange dust. That info is per a website. I haven't tried this myself yet. Not sure if other varieties that grow in warmer places are the same way.

Thanks, zone3_newbie,
I opened one of the pods and found a orange thread looking seeds and decided that they had to be it. It sounds to me like this is a confirmation. Thanks a bunch.

Now my next question. How would I start this seed? It is so fragile. Would I break the pod open and shake it into a damp paper towel? Soak the whole pod, seed and all? Has anyone done this?
