If they are- when and how do I plant them? Should this be done fall or store until Spring?
Are these seeds/bulbs of Cardinal Flower
Those are the pods... the seeds will be inside them. I hope those are still on your plant... cuz they don't look like they're ready yet. When the pods start to brown it will be time to pick them.
The seeds need several weeks of cold to germinate well. Fall planting is good. The seeds are very fine and should just be sprinkled on the surface of the soil without covering them.
That's still a healthy plant. Still has a few red blooms too. I purchased this as a plant - will it grow well as seed?
So I need to wait until the pod browns and scatter the seeds. Right?
Thanks - do you need seeds?
The pods look good so I'd bet they have fertile seeds inside. Yes - scatter them without covering them up. They should germinate in the early spring.
I have a couple plants here so I'll pass on the seeds. I have it growing in my pond :)
