I have leonotis nepetifolia and cut the tops off to see if they would make side shoots.
They put out two or more flowers where I cut the tops off.I thought I would make more flower heads to make more seed.
Has anyone chopped off the top of the Lion's ears?
Yes I have! I am also experimenting with rooting the tops. I'll let you know how it goes.
I think I will try that. I want it to get a head start next year and that sounds like a good way to do it.
I have rooted cuttings from these plants. They make lateral branches when you cut the growing tip out and those side shoots will root too.
Were gunna get a frost this week and mine has its first bloom on it!
