How do I go about collecting the seeds from a passion vine (maypop). Do I let the pod dry on the vine or dry the seeds out myself? And how should I store the seeds? I've got about 5 of these vines growing in my back yard by the edges of the woods and would like to relocate a few of them. When is the best time to dig one up?
Collecting passion vine seeds
I bet PoppySue would know the answer to this one... I have seen a couple posts from her about passion vines. Maybe you could e-mail her. http://davesgarden.com/members/poppysue/
Wait until the fruit falls off the plant. It will be soft to the touch... seeds should be ripe then.
Not sure about digging and moving them since mine grow in containers. I'd guess that early spring just as they break dormancy would be best.
OK thanks a lot for the info.
wow!!! quick responce poppy! Hope it was ok that I refered her to you.
