I got a few different kinds of lemons to cook with, and sprouted the seeds.
Potted them up today, going to try to keep them dwarf. Yes, yes, I know; whatever cultivars they were won't come true from seed, but I can't wait to see how they do. Out of the 40 seeds that I sprouted, I potted up 12 that had good taproot and cotyledon stem showing.
Sprouted Lemon Seeds
I started some last year and have one that is growing like crazy, wondering if I can graft a good piece to it.......
You graft?????
I wanna try.....
definitly not an expert, but i've planted citrus seeds in the past and had success in getting productive plants (no special technique - just pop a seed into dirt and watch!) i've been told (don't ask by whom!) that about 75% of the time good results will occur (don't worry about rootstock bounce back) however the plant will definitely be MUCH thornier - let me know how far off-base i am. i've got two calamondin (round, sour kumquats) about six feet tall from seed (very thorny) should fruit this coming year (will have to wait and see). love marmalade from kumquats!!! deffef
wonder what the seeds from my limequat would do.......
