I think I will try some of these. I have always rooted hydrangeas, and they are really easy, but never tried the crepe myrtle. Thanks.
are they rooted in water or soil.
Either, preferably in soil.
When I took a propogation class they recommend we use pumice and rooting hormone. After sticking just keep very moist at all times and out of direct sunlight.Timing is pretty critical on some shrubs too.
The reason it is better to NOT root in water is because the roots can easily snap off when being transferred to soail, because of the high water content inthe roots, and the lack of soil to support the new little plant.
Good info Lavanda, thanks.
Roz, hey! My mother roots crepe myrtle all the time, it is really easy, she says hi.
I've got several of these I'm "trying" to root right now....I put the container in a garbage bag, and then set in the shade...... I haven't checked yet, should I? How long does it normally take?
I dipped the cuttings in rooting hormone then stuck in wet sand.
I have never had luck with trying to root myself... they'll root themselves if I leave them alone, but with my help, I've never had much luck!

Emerald 'n Gold (Euonymus fortunei
I did stem cutting on the above plant and put it in my sandbox. I got roots 6-8 weeks later.
