My yellow crookneck squash plants are heavily infested with whiteflies. Is there something I can use that won't affect the fruit?
Whiteflies on squash, help?
A good soap spray should do it. And with a little alcohol in it will increase its potency. Spray it when the sun is not on the plants tho.
That's what I use too. Make sure you spray both leaf surfaces.
Shoe... got a recipe for a soap spray, and how much alcohol, and what kind?
Use Safer's Soap if you have it. If not, a good kitchen soap (I prefer Ivory myself!) If you mix it in a hand-held spray bottle (the 32 oz size) I'd use a good squirt of soap, about two inches (measured by looking at the side of the bottle) of alcohol, then fill with water. By the way, that's rubbing alcohol, not your personal stash.
You can even mix alcohol and water 50/50 if you like, but the soap in the water really helps.
Thanks, 'Shoe! I'll mix up some tomorrow and try it.
