this is a recent addition for my garden makeover Prunus incisa 'Kojo No Mai'. anyone know what it means?
Prunus incisa 'Kojo No Mai'
Mark,I think the words mean 'dance of the butterflies' which is more than fitting. I bought one a few years ago and was lucky enough to have two of them in the same pot!
What a beauty! Glad you managed to hunt it down
What a lovely name greentapestry!
how beautiful mark. How big does it grow?
3 x 3 feet in 10 years!
I've not seen that one before, did you have to buy it from a specialists nursery?
Greentapestry -
It would be "Dance of the Butterflies" if it were spelled "Kocho no Mai", or even better, "Chocho no Mai"
but with this spelling, all I can think of is "Dance of the Maidens"
I would tend to think you're right but the spelling is wrong.
This may or may not be the description of the plant we're discussing.
Acer palmatum:
"Butterfly" Kocho nishiki or Kocho no mai ~~~ One of the more popular variegated forms, this tree will have leaves streaked with irregular blotches of white. A small, fine textured tree, it will reach 9’-12’ tall.
Waddaya think?
Adam.
Ahh..., wait..., this is better:

And at least bears a glancing resemblence to the pics Mark posted.

thats my tree but I think he has taken off the lower branches. I know hwere there is one almost fully grown so I'll ask if I can take a photo.
that is so beautiful, might keep an eye open for one, just the right size for my garden.
hi, guess what, I just happened to walk past one,or one that looks very similar, with an equally unpronouncible name.I couldn't resist it. It now sits in a pot on the patio.
that's your fault for making me spend some money!!....
well just proves what taste I have and that it can rub off. I bought another Kojo today to plant beside my Betula jacquemontii.
tell us the name is pretty please
