Yellowing at the bottom of Lupins

My lupine leaves are beginning to turn yellow at the bottom of the plant. Too mcuh water? Not enough?? Lupine lovers to the rescue!!

Here is something I found on the subject of Lupines:

How to Grow:

Lupine like full sun to partial shade. They will grow quickly to a height of 2 to 3 feet.

Lupine will do well in average soils and in cool weather. The soil should be loose and lime free(they do not like lime). Keep the soil moist to feed their quick growth.Water them during dry periods, once or twice per week. Adding a general purpose fertilizer once a month before blooming will result in bigger plants and blooms.

Looks like your keeping them too wet. Let them dry out between watering.

Brugie, by lime are you meaning like alkaline soil. Here at my garden i constantly fight alkaline. Even my water is very alkaline, so i am adding sulfur, etc. all the time. But i do have beautiful lupine. Donna, (rutholive)

Lime sweetens the soil. So, maybe, and I'm saying maybe, if you give your lupins some Miracid, it would help if the soil is too sweet. I am no expert. We are lucky to have perfect soil where we live.
