Evening Primrose

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Planted it from a small cell into one of my pots. When it stopped flowering, it found a new home in my flower bed. Oh boy did it find it's niche!! I have been plagued by it and digging it out by the barrel full. It is so pretty, but beware!!

Ditto..
I dug up some on the roadside a few years ago. where they had been planted.. They were so pretty..Now I have to dig, pull, spray, and then start all over again, and still they take over,,LOL

lol Larkie, isn't that always the way!!! I've actually planted some in my meadow where the land is pure hard clay and hope that they don't show the same tendency to spread like crazy.

One person's poison is another one's desire...I have tried to grow this is my hard clay, deer-infested soil. I have thrown out seeds several times, but to no avail. I want to put them in hard-to-grow areas....

evelyn if you would care to remind me, I can send you some plants come the Spring because I'm sure they will still be itching to grow again, despite my efforts to eradicate them. It will be interesting to see if the ones in the meadow emerge successfully or maybe this prolonged and unusually cold weather will have seen their demise in my garden, period!! :-)

Thanks, Louisa!

I have plenty of space for them, if they'll grow.

What kind of soil do you have? Do you have any deer there? I think EP is a delicacy, like roses.

Evelyn the bulk of our land is red clay except for the few beds where the soil has been amended. So most of the plants went crazy in the 'good' soil and I see they are pushing up again. It will be interesting to see how the transplanted ones have fared in the clay (the meadow). Yes, we have deer but strangely enough they haven't bothered my shrubs this year even though this winter has been abnormally cold. Mail me with your snail addy and I will send some young plants in the very near future.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Evelyn - they are coming up again. Drat!!!!! Let me know when you are ready for them.

Sierra Foothills, CA(Zone 8a)

I am ready, or I should say, it finally stopped snowing and raining.

Newark, OH(Zone 5a)

if anyone has any extras, I would love some too as I had not had any luck with the ones that I bought last year. I made a little area where I want something to just take over and this would be perfect if it works :)

Edited to say:
I'll take as much as I can get if you guys want to get rid of it :)
