Years ago (seems like centuries) my mom used to root chrysanthemum pieces.... but I just don't have any luck. Is there a trick to it? It seemed to me that she was just throwing pieces in water and they grew roots... how long does it take? Are the ends supposed to be cut at a slant or some special way? If the leaves start to die is it DOA or will it bounce back/get new leaves.
Rooting Chrysanthemum?
I have some rooting now, I just stuck them in a tray with damp sand and mostly perlite. They seem to be happy so far.
I generally root mine in spring or early summer. When I pinch them back for bushier growth, I just stick the little trimmings in the dirt next to the mother plant so I can keep track of who they are. They root pretty quickly. :)
