I just put up a temporary greehouse /row cover that I am really happy with. I stacked straw bales 5' high to form the back wall. Then I made a structure from PVC pipe that made an arching top and front wall that I covered with clear plastic sheeting. (I chose UV resistant for longevity.) The theory is that as the straw begins to decompose, it generates heat, heating the greenhouse. After a few seasons, the bales are recycled into the garden soil and fresh bales are brought in. It is easy to construct, and fast! It can be moved, added on to, or reduced. Mine is covering my tomato beds, and should extend my season significantly. Make certain to use certified weed free straw.
easy greenhouse idea
What a great idea, rockwoman! That's some clever thinking for sure. :)
