Crimson, sure the hardy Hibiscus (dinner plate) should be hardy there. They do wilt badly when moved, need to cut the stems back to a few inches, and the roots also... what you transplant is really the 'crown'. And they are VERY late to wake up in the spring. Also, they are very easy from seeds, and will bloom the same year if started early.

Do you have any more of the 'Russian Red' canna??? I grew one from HoniBee this summer and it is the pride and joy of my garden, a perfect background for whatever grows and blooms in front of it.
