That's a tiger swallowtail. They make it this far north - but I don't see a lot of them like the monarchs.

So pretty. I saw one in my yard yesterday - can't remember seeing one for a few years. I bought a bunch of hosta tcs and had spread blood meal around them to keep the bunnies at bay. Butterfly landed on the blood meal and he just stayed and stayed - I even got close with the camera and he was drunk on the blood meal and didn't even move. Boy, that stuff stinks, though. Brenda
