Hi, my neighbor brought me up a piece of a branch (I think she said some kind of ornamental apple tree?) in a baggie, covered in bugs. I didn't know what they were and offered to post them, but she said she would try the hardware store. The bugs are black and lining up the branch, much like aphids do. They are tiny and black with small white spots that almost look like stripes across their backs. There were also others without the stripes that had wings. The coccoon/eggsack thing sort of looked like a snake skin. It was beige, about an inch long and had ridges running across it. I know a picture would have been better, but does anyone have any ideas??
Black bugs, white spots
Aphis pomi - green apple aphid!! Many types of aphids Chele and thought this might be the one!! The Speckled green fruitworm was mentioned in this site I found but maybe you can sift through it and see what you think!!

Hey Lou! Thanks for answering. I forgot all about this posting. That doesn't look like the right critter, but all I saw were ones on the branch tip she brought to me.
