Bathing beauties

This pair of Mourning Dove couldn't wait to try out the new bird bath. They hang out here a lot now. So sweet. Their melancholy song is very relaxing in the evenings.

Lots of mourning doves here, too. I like to hear them and see them. Last year I had one nesting in a hanging basket on the front porch. Two eggs, only one hatched. It was fun to see if grow and eventually leave the nest. This year I noticed a mourning dove on a nest in the pine tree by the birdfeeders ... then I saw some feathers on the ground ... and haven't seen her since. I think she met with the feline angel of death.

Love your bird bath, Penny. I wanted to put one up last year, but never got the time. I'm trying to get Rob to make me one out of aluminum that could hold a ceramic dish of some sort... don't want to kill off birdie brain cells with the aluminum!
