use peat moss around them?

Saw a lady on HGTV say she likes to add Peat around her hydrangea. What do YOU like to use??

Drooling at the picture!! Looks just like mine - I WISH!!! I fear my hydrangeas will take some time, if ever, to reach this size. The ice storm took care of the emerging new buds and although I was disappointed was happy to see new growth from the base of the plants but now, even after a couple of nights of 20F, these too have fared badly and have turned black. As for your question, I wouldn't have considered peat moss simply because it does not hold water and it doesn't hold any nutritional value. Compost is the answer and then mulch!! I haven't tried horse manure but need to look into this because roses and other plants love it. I will research!!

think she was saying it was an "acid'

The PH of the soil is what determines the colors' To produce blue flowers the soil pH is neutral or alkaline, add aluminum sulfate or sulfur to increase acidity.
