Asparagus Fern germination?

Kearney, NE(Zone 5a)

I picked some seed pods off an asparagus fern. They are still slightly fleshy and have a very hard brown seed inside. What do I do now? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi talinum! I hope someone answers this because I'd like to try this myself with my own asparagus seeds.

Norman Deno's book says 70 degrees and they need dark. Germinates in 3 weeks

Thanks poppysue, Do I need to remove the fleshy covering first?

Yes... it said he washed and cleaned the seeds first.

Everyone
Don't be disappointed if they take 3 MONTHS instead of weeks!! I planted some in the fall and they just now came up. I read that soaking them in warm water for a week will help, changing the water daily. Once they germinate, they grow very fast.

okay Calalily, I'll be patient. I still have some seeds left. I'll try soaking them. thanks
