Newbie Amaryllis owner

I received this Amaryllis Plant last December and there were no directions with it (as I was just told not to water it). It never bloomed until July (1 bloom) and now again in August (4 blooms). Upon researching it, I found that people usually pot these however, mine is wrapped in a gold like waxy covering. Am I to remove that and plant it and if so, when? I love how clean it is, and I’ve never watered it to date. It’s so beautiful and I don’t want to ruin him. Please help me keep it vibrant! Thank you!

These were available at the big boxes & Trader Joe's during the holidays for the past several years. The direction is meant for one season and then dispose. I have 6 or 7 white ones in my greenhouse currently, rescued 4 years ago. They reliably bloom every year & send off bulbils to divide. I can send pictures of where mine are at if interested.

Cut off that wax exterior ASAP. The bulb really needed water & fertilizer all along. Pot in any basic mix in terracotta with drainage. After bloom it should produce strappy leaves about 2' long. Give as much light as possible. Place outdoors until frost. Those leaves will start to yellow & dry. Reduce water to zero then. The bulb will go dormant. Store it in your basement, garage or whatever freeze proof place & check for new growth in a few months. I have left mine in same pots for years. You don't need to remove & dry bulbs. At that point start to water regularly & fertilize once a month.
