Hi, I have what I think is a Schefflera Umprella Tree that has happily grown Very tall (guessing 8ft) outside this summer. I need to bring it in soon because a frost is coming but it's too tall so I need to trim it but everything I have found, if my ID guess is right, doesn't make sense. There aren't any side branches... its just one main trunk with stems coming off.... I don't want to break it trying to bring it in and I don't want to kill it by just cutting off the top. ASAP help needed! Thanks!
ID help and care advice plz
The id is correct. They can be trained early on as a shrub specimen by pruning or a single trunk tree. You probably won't kill it by wacking it down to a reasonable height but it might not look good for a year or two. They bleed white sap like crazy when cut & that sap can be irritating to skin so put something underneath it and wear disposable gloves.
