Any Idea what berry this is

Truro, United Kingdom

Out on my walks collecting blackberries and came across loads of these trees full of berries, now the question is what tree is it and are they edible???? thanks in advance

I was out walking today and saw two shrubs/trees with dark berries: European buckthorn, and viburnum -- probably viburnum dentatum. Neither edible. But yours may be something else, I'm just commenting on candidates with dark berries.

Might also be Prunus spinosa?

No idea what grows in your area of the world. If it was in my neighborhood, I’d be thinking it might be a chokecherry. Mostly pit in the fruit. Astringent. Dark purple/blue juice. Lots of berries in grape like clusters.

I'd lean toward suse's ID, but I'd also say:

SHOW THE WHOLE PLANT. Then, provide progressively finer detail images with something in the picture for scale, and that can usually lead to a positive plant identification. You could also "pit" one of the fruit, and show us what is inside. Different species have markedly different seeds.
