Banana Tree - uplift / straight

2155, Australia

Hello Davesgarden Community,

Hope you are doing good.

Reaching out to you for our slant banana tree. To make her feel good for ripping banana fruit, she needs to stand straight, that allows her to hold the ‘bunch’ of bananas, without the weight of the bunch loading her too much (if she is in an inclined position)

Kindly refer to attached photo(s) of banana tree.

Can you please share your recommendation on how to prevent the tree from further sagging.

Thank you very much.

It looks crowded in that corner. Maybe moving it to a location without any interference would help.

The individual tree only fruits once so it's too late to correct the problem which is caused by the "pups" crowding. The fruit will probably be okay even if it keels over. After a mature plant produces fruit the above ground portion dies and the roots produce multiple banana pups. Too many pups are growing in too little space. After this one finishes cut it down to the ground and thin the next generation to suit the space. Pups can be planted elsewhere or shared (foisted off). They are the tropical version of zucchini in the mailbox.
