What is wrong with my zucchini? It has had squash bugs, but not all the wilted leaves had been attacked. I thought about some sort of borer, but there are a few healthy leaves right in the center. The brown/yellow color came late. It started out with wilting. Took about a week to get to this point.
What\'s happened to my zucchini?
I expect the damage may be due to squash vine borers (in which case the remaining healthy leaves are likely just above a root).
What's been a serious problem for gardeners in the South has moved northward. I saw an article relating evidence of squash vine borers in Connecticut in 2019 and how they were expecting them to spread into Maine. Because of borers, squash is now the most challenging vegetable in my garden.
I have a similar issue in Raleigh. I would start by taking a plant and chopping it up in little pieces looking for a borer or other stuff. Keep an eye on my post to see if others have information.
