Whatever happened to agave attenuata 'Boutin Blue'? No where offers it for sale anymore. I have one, but I figured I'd like some more someday. It isn't suckering, which is maybe a part of why it can't be found anymore(although I read that they were tissue culturing it). I found a hybrid between it and another agave(I can't remember which) called 'Blue Flame', and I bought a couple, and its nice, color is good, a little wilder in form, but it has spines. That is one of the plusses with agave attentuata; no teeth and spines. And they look great with lush, tropical plants.
But yeah, Boutin Blue seems to have disappeared from the market and I wonder why.
What happened to agave \'Boutin Blue\'!?!
It is still sold in California. You might check with big nurseries near you esp. ones with lots of succulents to see if they can special order 1 for you.
I always put a plant I want but can't find on my eBay want list and then get notices if it shows up to be sold. Check etsy too.
Try googling 'agave attenuata boutin blue for sale miami beach fl' and see if you can locate 1.
I found https://desertscapesfl.com/fox-tail-agave-agave-attenuata.htm doing that but did not look more. I would call them and see if they can special order the cultivar you want. I also look at the images of it to see if any are from a nursery.
I see they have Agave attenuata Ray of Light which has no spines either and is beautiful.

It looks like Island Tropicals down in Homestead has it. Some wholesalers will sell plants to individuals. If they won't they should be able to recommend a landscape installation customer. Others have helped me locate what I was looking for at neighboring nurseries. I have tracked down rare palms in the past by searching for the specific plant and adding "Homestead nurseries" to the search.
Thanks so much everyone! It just seemed like in the past a lot of online stores carried it and those that did don't any more.
