I am considering the possiblity of growing some baptisia at my Florida home (I live in Leesburg, zone 9A), and I am wondering when they would bloom here? I have had many of them at my Pennsylvania home and they bloom in late May there. I would love something that blooms in April or earlier (doesn't every Snowbird?).
Does anyone in Central Florida grow baptisia?
I decided to try my hand at growing them. Come to find out that baptisia australis is a Florida native plant. I did not grow australis but I did grow three other cultivars and so far they are all doing very well. My 'Grape Taffy' bloomed the first year (all three of them) and they bloomed in late March (if I remember correctly) so they fit in perfectly with my plan.
