Is insecticide treatment necessary for spotted lanternfly?

Somerset County, NJ(Zone 6b)

Got a quote from an arborist for some other tree work on our property and in the proposal they also threw in spotted lanternfly treatment for our red maples:

“2 Native Red Maple front lawn (13" and 2" DBH) Treat plants that currently have populations of Spotted Lanternfly on the maintained portions of the property. Tree trunks will be treated with a systemic product that is absorbed through the trunk lenticels. July/Aug/Sept/“

Is this treatment necessary at this point? I have only seen one small egg mass to date on the larger maple tree. It was last week and I scraped it off, but that was it. Located in northern New Jersey where spotted lanternflies started to pop up last year but have not seen many at all.
