Not sure if it\'s a senna

Johannesburg, South Africa

A friend asked me to find the name of this plant, he says has medicinal properties.

It appears to be. The two original kinds of senna (Cassia senna and Cassia angustifolia) used to make remedies are now cultivated for their medicinal properties, primarily their laxative properties. https://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/search/results.php?gralcom=Senna

I guess those are the seedpods (?) in the second photo - which might help ID which Senna it is. I have the sickle pod Senna which can become quite weedy if I let them all go to seed. I usually let a couple of plants grow and set seed so I won't be overrun with it.
