SOLVED: Central Texas zone 8b (again)

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

We planned a number of native texas wildflowers. This does not match any listed in my seed packet.

It could be wine cup plant (Callirhoe involucrata).

Pflugerville, TX(Zone 8b)

It is a deep red color flower. It stands about 24 inches high.

I've never known a wine cup to grow that tall.

Powder Springs, GA(Zone 7b)

I think my wine cups were over 3 foot tall last spring.

Your wine cup plants are lovely. I'm searching but I am not finding wine cups flowers that are the same red of my mystery plant. The plant grows from a central shaft for about six inches before branching off. I uploaded another picture to show the leaf structure.

Ah looking more it seems to be scarlet flax. Yet another non-native popping up in the garden.

Thank you all for your help

Can you take a picture looking straight into the flower itself?
