how do I ..Pecan (Carya illinoioensis)
Dimitri, it's good to hear from you again. The pecan and wild plum are natives here, and I know the persimmon grows wild but I'm not sure if it is native or introduced...it does well here. The pecan and plum are easily sprouted from seed. I'm not sure about the persimmon. I once used a handful of pecans in the bottom of some pots for drainage, and they sprouted. Squirrels also plant pecan trees. I have wild plums here on my property, and it multiplies naturally. If I get close to one with my tiller and disturb the roots, I will get lots of little trees sprouting there. The pecans like water. They naturally grow along the creek bottom lands here. They will also do well in your backyard. I have had no experience with the persimmon, but I see it growing from time to time in the wild, usually along a fence line where a bird has planted it. It is beautiful with its orange fruit in the fall.

Hi, Hi, Lantana and Ma Vie, and all others...
((Ma A a Viiiiiiiiie >> was it Charles Aznavour in the 60es?? or G. Becaud ??)
I will greatly appreciate any pecans from USA that may germinate, as well as genuine American wild plum stones.
I say this because it is quite easy to confuse and plant nuts sold here which may not sprout, or use a stone that is not the particular species.
Let me know, please
Thank you
Dimitri
Dimitri, I'm not sure what species of pecan our Texas native is. However, I could send you some very fresh pecans (they are ripe and falling now) of our native tree here...it is our state tree. The wild plum would have to wait until late summer next year. I've never bothered to gather seed from them, and they only fruit and ripen in the summer. Also, I'm not sure about shipping them. Are there any restricitions about shipping this sort of thing to Greece? E-mail me if you are interested and we can work on the details.
Thank you, Lantana.
email on its way..
Dimitri
Thank you, Lantana !!
Your pecans and other seeds arrived today, they gave me great pleasure. I am sorry I have not posted your dracs and hollyhocks yet - what can I say as excuse.. I promise to send them tomorrow.
Thank you again
Best wishes for Christmas !!
Dimitri
I'm glad they arrived safely. I hope they do well for you. I'm waiting until after the solstice to plant anymore anyway so your delay is no problem. I'm glad your computer is well again too. I'm really lucky my McAfee caught it...I never dreamed the mail was not from you....sneaky virus indeed. I will be more careful in the future though. Have a Merry Christmas too.
