My wife and I were out checking out various sights and parks in our area and saw a tree with some spiney looking fruits hanging from it. I took some photos and found out that they are the Chestnuts of the Horse Chestnut tree. Once ripe these open up and the rich colored chestnuts drop out. I am told these are poisonous though so not for eating, just ornamental use. Still neat to see them and thought I would share for others whom had not seen them.
First time seeing Horse Chestnuts!
I don't think I have ever seen them on the tree, either. Impressive looking.
